Well I have been preparing for this day for a long time and Saturday night it happened.......
It had been such a great day. Jeff didn't have to work so we hung around the house all day doing odds and ends. We worked on the nursery, watched the Red Raiders win, ate a delicious steak cooked by Jeff, and enjoyed hanging out together. It was just after dark and I heard Lottie bark so I went to the side door to let her in. When I opened the door I heard the loudest rattle of my life. I let Lottie in, and screamed for Jeff. THERES A SNAKE!!!! Jeff came to the rescue and walked outside with his spotlight. In our front yard he found a rattlesnake coiled up in strike position with 4 "snake charmers" (our kittens) sourounding it. My little snake charmers did such a good job!! Jeff told me to get him something to kill it with. Now you say the word snake in my presence and my brain, courage, and tears leave me! I asked him what that would be... a gun, he said no. A shovel? He said we don't have one. I said a hoe? He said we don't have one. I was a wreck and scared to death, I coudn't think properly and I walked in a circle for what seemed like 10 minutes before I could come to my senses enough to find a piece of pipe for Jeff to use as a weapon. By the time I got to Jeff with the pipe he of course already had the snake killed. What a Man : )
As I mentioned earlier I have been preparing myself for this day for awhile. Anytime I see anything that has to do with getting rid of snakes, I'm on it. I have made Jeff sprinkle "snake repellant" all around our house. I have kitties in place, and I make sure Jeff is on top of keeping the grass mowed so we can see what's out there. What I wasn't prepared for is a snake actually being in the yard. The big day was here and all I could do was run in circles like a crazy person with nothing to defend myself with. My next snake prevention purchase will be a shovel! I survived our first snake encounter, and I'm crossing my fingers it won't happen again anytime soon!
Jeff with the snake.
On a lighter note my belly is growing daily it seems like. Here I am 29 weeks
